Williams allegedly said about one of the killings, "You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him." According to the governor's account, Williams then made a growling noise and laughed for five to six minutes.[link ]
But I was looking at this girl's website and she is 15. She was posing like she was on Play boy, all 50 pictures of her. And I was sitting there, looking at her scantily clad clothes that she wore to parties - wow - did I do that when I was living in Torrance, California? - Dude, but I was 21 then - this girl is 15! 15! I didn't know what to do, or think. I wanted to cover her up and tell her, dude, you got to respect yourself.
The woman was mauled by a pet Labrador in May, leaving her with severe facial injuries that her doctors said made it difficult for her to speak and eat. The dog was put down.
The partial face was donated by the family of a woman who was declared brain dead.
The recipient now must take drugs to prevent her body from rejecting the transplant, which Dubernard has said carries "a slightly more elevated risk of cancer."
Dubernard took part in the decision to carry out a partial face transplant despite risks that include the patient's potentially negative psychological reaction to wearing part of someone else's face.
Dubernard led teams that performed a hand transplant in 1998 and the world's first double forearm transplant in January 2000.
Reacting to the report, Senator John McCain, whose essay “Torture's Terrible Toll” appeared on the cover of Newsweek Magazine in late November, said "My heart goes out to those suffering for their belief in human rights and democracy. This report demonstrates that torture of political prisoners is a state policy of Burma's junta. All Americans, who stand by the Burmese people in their aspirations for freedom, should be outraged." McCain went on to say that the report "Illustrates in painstaking detail yet one more reason why United Nations Security Council action is long overdue. Those who care about human rights and human decency should press the Security Council to take up the issue of Burma immediately."
In the 25th century, a rampaging virus has forced the remnants of humanity into the seclusion of a final city. There is great political conflict within, however, and this is the story of an acrobatic assassin, Aeon Flux (Theron), whose latest target is the government's top leader.

I watched "the Island" yesterday.
The movie stole ideas from "The Matrix".
1) The way they grow people. Even the way they take out the grown up human from the pod is the same. (okay.. they might argue that this is the way to grow human in theory.)
2) The scene where the bots are inserted is exactly the same with the scene when agent Smith inserts a bug into Neo.
3) finally...
In Matrix... "I am Neo"
In Island... "I am Lincoln"
ha ha ha shameless copies.
Technology is very much advanced in that era. But the motorbike like that will not fly in reality.
I don't understand why mini-bots came out when urinate. (with the technology at that time described, these should be nanobots which can be simply injected into blood vessel. They will be able to trevel even into the head. Now the bots in the movie are quite big. The scene in the movie is just to horrify the audience.)
Anyway, it is a good movie to watch. I recommend you. The chase scene is awesome.
Annnnnnnd. The actress, Scarlett Johansson, is very beautiful in this movie.

From Visions of Science photographic awards:
Einstein Year Award: 1st Prize
Surface
tension
by Robert Anderson
The surface tension of water can support even a metal paperclip. By photographing it using a grill in front of the light source, the deformation of the water caused by the clip's weight can be seen. This bending of light is similar to the bending of light by strong gravitational fields, as predicted by Einstein's theories. Surface tension is due to an attraction between the molecules in water, which cause its surface to act in an elastic manner.

Breast enhancements need not only be about looks and sex appeal. They could soon have a functional purpose too.
A company is currently developing a microchip that stores music files and can be built into a breast implant, the Sun reports.
BT Futurology apparently intend on developing a musical double act for the bosoms, which would see an MP3 player installed in one mammary, and music files in the other.
The whole ensemble could then be managed via Bluetooth wireless technology.
Company analyst Ian Pearson said: "It is now very hard for me to think of breast implants as just decorative.
"If a woman has something implanted permanently, it might as well do something useful."
Since mystery of ya-yit in “myanmar1” font I discussed fascinated me, I tried to find the ya-yit in character set of myanmar1. Eventually I found that there is no ya-yit at all. Instead, “Ya” and “a-thet” combined to form ya-yit. Like this: for “kya” and “cha”, က ္ ရ
ခ ္ ရ. I put spaces between these characters to split them. If I remove spaces, they combined again to render as ya-yit.
Now, getting more mysterious.

So… Let me continue my Unicode story.
Yesterday, after I wrote the update on my previous
post, I found this post by Waipyo and also
Lynn seck emailed me about this
site.
Advantages of this keyboard installer is that it is quite smart for ya-yit.
first, I can type as I write (i.e. first ka and later ya-yit) and second, the size of ya-yit is automatically chosen. And ေ also act a bit strangely.
Disadvantages: font myanmar1 does not include subscript characters. Lots of spaces in character map are left blank. I can’t even type “Mandalay”, မႎၨေလး. Check
this if you want to know how many characters we need.
And some characters are different from other unicode fonts like Myazedi, BIT and UniBurma.
I think Myazedi, BIT and UniBurma are better. ohhh I'm confused. Give me a standard and complete one.

Neo: But if you already know, how can I make a choice?
The Oracle: Because you didn't come here to make the choice, you've already made it. You're here to try to understand why you made it.
The Oracle: We're all here to do what we're all here to do. I'm interested in one thing, Neo, the future. And believe me, I know - the only way to get there is together.
Neo: Are there other programs like you?
The Oracle: Oh, well, not like me. But... Look, see those birds? At some point a program was written to govern them. A program was written to watch over the trees, and the wind, the sunrise, and sunset. There are programs running all over the place. The ones doing their job, doing what they were meant to do, are invisible. You'd never even know they were here. But the other ones, well, we hear about them all the time.
Neo: I've never heard of them.
The Oracle: Of course you have. Every time you've heard someone say they saw a ghost, or an angel. Every story you've ever heard about vampires, werewolves, or aliens is the system assimilating some program that's doing something they're not supposed to be doing.
Neo: Programs hacking programs. Why?
The Oracle: They have their reasons, but usually a program chooses exile when it faces deletion.
Finnish researchers presented new technology designed to prevent thefts of mobile phones and laptops, using biometrics to recognize the gait of the device's owner. A sensor-based so-called "gaitcode" embedded in the device registers and memorizes the movements of the owner in three-dimensional form, and is reliable in 90 percent of cases, the researchers said Thursday.
If it does not recognize the walk, it asks for a password. If given an incorrect password, the device automatically locks itself down.
This very small OS called MenuetOS is so small that it can fit into a floppy disk which we can call it live diskette. One important fact is that it is not based on any kind of Unix or Linux kernel. It was written from scratch. Though I couldn't access my HD, GUI is quite impressive for such a small one. You should take a look. Ohhh... come on!!! please don't say you don't have floppy drive.!!![via]

Googlebombing 'failure'

If you do a Google search on the word [failure] or the phrase [miserable failure], the top result is currently the White House’s official biographical page for President Bush. We've received some complaints recently from users who assume that this reflects a political bias on our part. I'd like to explain how these results come up in order to allay these concerns.
Google's search results are generated by computer programs that rank web pages in large part by examining the number and relative popularity of the sites that link to them. By using a practice called googlebombing, however, determined pranksters can occasionally produce odd results. In this case, a number of webmasters use the phrases [failure] and [miserable failure] to describe and link to President Bush's website, thus pushing it to the top of searches for those phrases. We don't condone the practice of googlebombing, or any other action that seeks to affect the integrity of our search results, but we're also reluctant to alter our results by hand in order to prevent such items from showing up. Pranks like this may be distracting to some, but they don't affect the overall quality of our search service, whose objectivity, as always, remains the core of our mission.
Another head hangs lowly,
Child is slowly taken.
And the violence caused such silence,
Who are we mistaken?
But you see, it's not me, it's not my family.
In your head, in your head they are fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are crying...
In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, dou, dou, dou, dou, dou...
Another mother's breakin',
Heart is taking over.
When the vi'lence causes silence,
We must be mistaken.
It's the same old theme since nineteen-sixteen.
In your head, in your head they're still fighting,
With their tanks and their bombs,
And their bombs and their guns.
In your head, in your head, they are dying...
In your head, in your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie,
Hey, hey, hey. What's in your head,
In your head,
Zombie, zombie, zombie?
Hey, hey, hey, hey, oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh, oh, hey, oh, ya, ya-a...
Let me give two links for Google Earth users.
First one is Google Earth Hacks and second one is Google Sightseeing. Check them out!!!
And if you like Google Earth, you should also try this World wind developed by NASA.
About World wind Kate Russell from BBC wrote:
NASA's Goddard Space Flight Centre has produced a set of fascinating animations that demonstrate a variety of subjects such as hurricane dynamics and seasonal changes across the globe. Just like Google Earth, though, the real draw is the graphics. For example, have you ever wondered what it would be like to fly through the Grand Canyon or across the Swiss Alps? World Wind uses NASA's Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data to allow you to zoom in from orbit and actually fly into and through famous landmarks and geographical wonders. Its full functions are way too complex to cover here so I will give you the best tip possible to get you started: launch the application and click Help followed by Key Chart. Be sure to explore all the different rotational and zoom options for the absolute best results.Ohhh... don't ask me. I haven' try it yet. I'm quite busy these days and trying to run such kind of application would be time consuming on a antique PC like mine. And... Here are two links I took to compare Google and MSN online satellite images. . http://virtualearth.msn.com/default.aspx?cp=34... tip: close "welcome" box to get wider view. . http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=34.031465,-118...
